THE INVENTOR is done

Finished it a day or two ago. It’s available now on kindle and in paperback format. I don’t think I’ll do a hardback version of it.

Overall, I’m not thrilled with how the story developed. It sort of grew into its own thing and changed from what I originally envisioned, but that’s how it goes. Tolkien famously used the expression “the tale grew in the telling” to describe how a book can take on a life of its own. It’s up to the writer to balance letting the story expand in a natural way while also steering the ship toward the intended ending. That didn’t really happen here, but that’s the way it goes.
