Chumpty Dumpty and the Wishing-Well War is done!
Well…the first draft is done.
I gotta say, this might be the best thing I’ve ever written. I still have to proof it and that always leads to minor re-writes here and there. Who knows, I may hate it the second-time over, but I don’t think so. This has been an absolute delight to write, and one of the easiest books I’ve ever completed. The first draft ended up being a hair shy of 39,000 words, which is about 12,000 words more than book one.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Still, that’s almost 40k words in a month and a half, and I didn’t even work on it every night: I still wrote articles for cultofwhatever.com and I took nights off here and there, as well. I’ve also started dieting and lost six pounds in a week. And I talk fast, too!
Phillip shares a “with” credit, not because he helped write it but because the characters were co-created by him. I did my best to capture the voices and tone that he helped establish in that marathon writing session so many years ago. I thought of him every night I sat down to write.
Proofing, editing, formatting all happen this week, Lord willing. My wish is for it to publish by the end of the week. After that, work begins on the third and final installment in the trilogy.
Here’s to it.
