FOR A BETTER YESTERDAY is complete!

It’s finished. The longest novel I’ve yet undertaken has concluded. 39 chapters, plus a prologue and an epilogue, encompassing three, 13-chapter acts. FOR A BETTER YESTERDAY is my first science-fiction novel and I’m overall very happy with how it turned out. As said, there are three distinct acts, each with thirteen chapters: The first act leans heavier on the “science” side of things, the second act leans more to the “fiction” side, and the third act strikes a nice balance between both.

Originally I had planned to write the whole thing chronologically and then mix and match the chapters in a non-linear fashion. Ultimately, however, I decided to keep things as they were. The book remains linear though, as the preface says, it’s not actually “linear.” This is a story about time travel; there is no “linear.”

The kindle version is available now and the paperback and special full color hardback edition should be up in a day or so. The full-color version is stupidly pricey, due to Amazon’s markup in printing costs. It’ll set you back $75 dollars. The regular paperback is only $25. That’s still about $5 more than I usually price my books, but this one is 700 pages(!) so that’s what it had to be.

As for the cover, there are actually a plurality to enjoy, simply because I could not settle on a single one I loved more than the others. The Kindle version is gritty and metaphorical. The hardback version highlights the cosmic scope of the story. The paperback version is a bit of both.

Next up, I will finish the year wrapping up my commentary on Jeremiah and Lamentations. I have a full slate of novels coming in 2023 though, including a trilogy of children’s stories and the next book in the DISHONORED series.
